The Homecare Exchange is a free community resource sponsored by the largest and most trusted union representing long-term care workers, SEIU Local 2015. Through our registry, we refer those in Los Angeles County who need in-home assistance to qualified homecare providers. Our caregivers possess the skills and training to offer you, or your loved one, quality care which will allow you to stay in the comfort and familiarity of your own home.
Our providers also speak a wide range of languages to meet the varying needs of those living within Los Angeles County.
In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is financed by county, state, and federal funds and offers in-home care services to lower income seniors, veterans, and disabled individuals. To qualify for this program, you must apply directly through the government, however the requirements are listed below for your convenience:
- Individual income must be below $2,000 per month
- Married couples may not make more than $3,000 per month
- A physician must provide a referral
- An IHSS case worker will be sent to evaluate you in your home
After your evaluation has been successfully completed and you have been approved for a specified number of covered hours, you are then eligible to hire an IHSS caregiver. Please complete the form below to start the process of refer you to a pre-screened IHSS caregiver.
For those who intend to pay for care out of their own pockets we offer a private pay option. The caregiver rates are as follows:
*If the caregiver works LESS than four hours per day
**If the caregiver works MORE than four hours per day
Please Note: Although the Homecare Exchange refers you to caregivers who can meet your needs, if you hire a provider via our private pay option it is up to you to determine the number of hours required and the tasks you need performed.
